The BORO x Atelier program is a unique reintegration process that transforms burnout into a starting point for a meaningful return to society. Our goal is systemic change: we link individual recovery to creating a better world for people and nature through circular textile production. By focusing on ‘slow’ production processes and on talents rather than limitations, we create social textile production that centers on social value and the human dimension.
The core of our methodology is ‘mindfulness through making’: working with your hands and connecting with materials and manufacturing techniques helps to release tension and acquire new skills. Our approach and quality have been proven thanks to collaborations with, among others: the Center of Expertise for Stress and Resilience and Social Firms Amsterdam. We are proud of our clients such as Rijksmuseum, Joline Jolink, Bonne Suits, Food for Skin, and Liv Botanics, who, by working with us, choose a more sustainable and social textile production.
We deserve this award because we use burnout recovery as a driver for systemic change: we successfully link individual recovery to circular textile production in order to break through the capitalist growth economy. The true power of our program is evident from the feedback we receive from our makers: our Blik op Werk score of 8.2 confirms that at BORO x Atelier, they finally find peace and understanding for their situation and, for the first time in what is often a long period of absence from work, feel the space to take steps toward a new future.
